Margaret Worthman was born in Iola, Kansas on June 26, 1910 to Jesse and Clara (Garner) McShane. She and her family lived in Spain while her father helped build an Ash Grove Cement plant. She attended school in Chanute, Kansas and was librarian in the Junior High school at Chanute for six years.

In 1934 she married Herbert W. Worthman M.D. in Louisville, Nebraska. They had two children John and Susan. Margaret was a member of the Louisville United Methodist Church, She served as Past Matron of Primrose Chapter #103, Order of Eastern Star, Past Mother Advisor, Springfield Assembly #8, International Order of Rainbow for Girls, received the Grand Cross of Color, International Order Rainbow for Girls in 1964, Past Grand Matron of Nebraska, Order of Eastern Star, held honorary memberships as Past Grand Matron of North Dakota, Kansas and Manitoba, Canada. She was a member of the Board of Trustees, Masonic-Eastern Star Home for Children, Fremont Nebraska from 1963-1975 and was President of this Board for four years. She traveled the world extensively after her retirement.

Survivors include her son Dr. John (Carolyn) Worthman, of Cozad, NE, grandsons, David (Deb) Worthman, of Cozad, NE, Douglas (Lori) Worthman, of Greeley, CO, Keith Volwiler of Texas, and Christopher Volwiler of Plattsmouth, NE, 7 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Herbert Worthman and her daughter, Susan Volwiler.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. at First United Methodist Church, 222 Walnut, Louisville, Nebraska, with burial at Riverview Cemetery, Louisville. Family suggest Memorials to First United Methodist Church, Louisville.

No visitation at the Funeral Home, but the casket will be open one hour before services at the church.
