Obituary

Marjorie Delane McVay was born in Auburn, Nebraska on December 12, 1925 to Cleo and Dorothy (Pierce) Kipling. She lived in Auburn until her marriage to Albert Bauers on December 31, 1942. Together they moved to California where Albert was stationed in the U.S. Army. After Al was called to duty overseas during World War II, Margie moved back to Auburn to be with her family. Al was killed in action shortly after their only son, Gary, was born on December 24, 1944. She later met Don McVay, also from Auburn, and they were joined in marriage on December 18, 1948. Don and Marge moved to Tecumseh, Nebraska when Don was transferred for his job with OPPD. After living in Tecumseh for six years, Don was transferred to Louisville, Nebraska where he and Margie lived their next 36 years together until his death in August of 2001. Margie loved all of her friends and, in her younger years, loved to dance and socialize with friends. Margie remained somewhat social even after Don passed away, enjoying a Friday night drink or two at Good Times with her friends or her grandkids.
She and Don loved spending time with their two grandchildren – Michelle and Stephen (born to son, Gary and wife, Loretta) and would often drive back to Tecumseh on the weekends to spend time with them. Margie was known among Gary's friends as an amazing cook and often made fried chicken for him and his hunting and fishing buddies to take along on their trips. At family gatherings,
Margie always cooked enough food for twenty, even if only six were eating. Her fried chicken, homemade mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese were among her specialties. Margie loved to cook for her family and did so until very recently. She thoroughly enjoyed her two great granddaughters and spoiled them like crazy! The minute that Gabby and Regan walked through her door, Great Grandma was offering ice cream, brownies and M & Ms.
Margie passed away in the Bellevue Medical Center on March 25, 2011, at the age of 85 years. She lived a full life – filled with happiness, challenges, sadness, triumphs and loss…..all the things that made her the incredibly strong woman that she was. She was an amazing mother, wife, and grandmother who will be greatly missed.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents; brother Leonard Kipling; husband Albert Bauers; son Gary Bauers; husband Don McVay; and an infant great granddaughter.

She is survived by her granddaughter Michelle and husband, Darin Catterson, of Bellevue, Nebraska; grandson Steve Bauers and wife, Vila, of Lincoln, Nebraska; great granddaughters Gabby and Regan Catterson; her daughter-in-law, Loretta Kerchal and husband, Ken, as well as family members and many friends.
