Marian R. Sand, 91 of Syracuse, passed away on November 14, 2016 in Lincoln, NE. Marian, and her twin, Marilyn were born on February 12, 1925 to William & Anna (Price) Kueny outside of Danbury, IA. Marian grew up in a large family, with 14 children living to adulthood.
At the age of 19, Marian moved to Omaha NE working as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell from 1944-1954 when she met Eugene A. Sand. They married on May 7, 1955 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Omaha. After they were married she stayed at home, raising their family, and helping Gene with the farm. She enjoyed gardening, canning, raising chickens,and baking bread. She was a longtime member of the Altar Society and Catholic daughters, active on many committees, and holding offices.
Marian is survived by her Children: Michael Sand of Central City, NE, Patrick (Renee) Sand of Alta, IA, Joseph (Marsha) Sand of Syracuse, NE, Mary (David) Kuncl of Lincoln, NE; Grandchildren: Erin (Josh) Schlautman, Adam Ebert, Nicholas (Heather) Sand, Anastasia (Chad) Ellenberger, Christine Sand, Garrett Sand, Benjamin Sand and Lauren Sand; Great Grandchildren: Lucas, Samuel, Elizabeth and Rachel Schlautman, Avery and Carter Ellenberger; Brothers: John Kueny, Leo Kueny, Vincent Kueny; Sisters: Darlene Galkowski, Betty Lewis, Rita Elsner.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Brothers & Sisters: Marilyn Jordan, Roy Kueny, Paul Kueny, Robert Kueny, Charlotte Heath, Pauline Wunderlich & Richard Kueny.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 19 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paulinus Catholic Church in Syracuse. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in rural Paul, NE.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 18 from 9 A.M. until 5 P.M. at the funeral home, then at church with family greeting friends from 6 until time of Rosary at 7 P.M.
Memorials are suggested to the Family for later designation. They may be sent to the funeral home at 644 Park St. Syracuse, NE 68446.
