Marie V. Wellensiek, was born October 23, 1916, in Talmage, Nebraska, to Adelbert & Alide Teten. She passed away, Sunday, February 14, 2010, at Belle Terrace, Tecumseh, Nebraska, at the age of 93 years.
Marie married Arnold Wellensiek, on January 17, 1950, in rural Talmage, Nebraska, and to this union they raised 3 children Karen, Keith, and Duane. She grew up in and around Talmage, Nebraska, and Cook, Nebraska. Marie enjoyed crocheted Afghans for each grandchild, and making Quilts for her family. She liked to embroider and make crafts. Marie's pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. For 25 years she and Arnold went around to towns hanging Sale Bills for Duane's Auctions and Clerking at his sales. She was Treasurer of the Memorial Fund for 32 Years. She worked at the Farmers State Bank in Talmage, Nebraska, along with Farmers Bank in Nebraska City, Nebraska. Marie was baptized December 17, 1916, by Rev. A. Doering. She attended Mohawk Country School for eight years. She was Confirmed June 8, 1930 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church by Rev. Walter Fleischmann. She Graduated from Talmage High School in 1934, and attended Peru State College. Marie joined St. Paul's United Church of Christ (Osage) on Deceember 1959, were she taught Bible School and was the Church Organist, member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ (Osage), rural Cook, Nebraska, taught Sunday School, and was a 4-H Leader.
Marie is survived by her daughter Karen Windhorst & husband Duane, of Syracuse, NE, sons Keith Wellensiek & wife Sharon, of Cook, NE, and Duane Wellensiek, of Cook, NE, 6 grandchildren Rachel Ideus & husband Shane, Ryan Windhorst, Kimberly Kriefels & husband Tyler, Andrew Wellensiek & wife Kim, Scott Wellensiek & friend Ella, Chris Wellensiek & wife Nicole, 2 great grandchildren, Noland & Tom , also survived by a sister-in-law Helen Hubka & husband Clarence, of Cook, NE, 4 nephews, and many friends.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents Adelbert & Alide Teten, and husband Arnold.
Funeral Services will be Friday at 10:30 A.M., on February 19, 2010, at United Church of Christ (Osage), rural Cook, Nebraska, with burial at the Church Cemetery. Family suggest memorials to the Families Choice.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 17, 2010, from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M., and Thursday, February 18, from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M., and the Casket will be opened one hour before Services at the Church.
