Marion Rose Dumer of Gretna, Nebraska passed away on Monday, June 16th, 2025 at the age of 96.  She was born in Sandusky, Ohio on March 3, 1929 to Rudolph and Rosa Gierich.

Marion was baptized on June 23, 1929 and confirmed in June of 1943 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sandusky.  She attended Sandusky schools until her graduation in 1947. After high school, Marion received a $100 scholarship, which put her through three years of school at the MB Johnson School of Nursing in Elyria, Ohio, graduating in 1950.  She joined the nursery staff at Elyria Memorial Hospital for a year after graduation.  In April of 1951, she was excited to become the head nurse of the Obstetrics/Nursery department in Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan Women's Hospital. Throughout her career as a nurse, Marion touched countless lives with her kindness and expertise. While Marion worked hard, she also has fond memories of traveling Europe with a good friend in the summer of 1960.

Marion had her first date with future husband Lester at a German picnic, and their relationship moved fast. They met in August, were engaged in October, and married December 16, 1961 at the University Lutheran Chapel in Ann Arbor. Together they raised three children, Joel, Jeffrey, and Lisa and celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in 2023.

Marion's calling extended to her role as a pastor's wife, where she showed remarkable strength and faith, supporting her husband, Rev. Lester Dumer, in his ministry until his passing.  She taught Sunday School for 22 years, special education classes and volunteered at several nursing homes.  She also enjoyed singing in the parish choirs.  She was always active in LWML, Ladies' Aid, serving as a greeter on Sunday mornings and working in the church kitchen for special events and Sunday morning coffee and donut hour.

Marion's helping hands and warm heart will be remembered by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and faith that will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have been part of her extraordinary life.

Marion is survived by her beloved daughter Lisa (Jim) Anderson of Omaha, Nebraska; her cherished grandchildren Kristen (Phil) Brunner, Heather (Andrew) Ohlsson, Jordan Dumer, and Katherine Anderson; and her adored great-grandchildren Ava and Noah Ohlsson. Her loving brother Rudolph Gierich also survives her. Marion was preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph & Rosa Gierich, her husband, Rev. Lester Herman Dumer and two sons, Joel and Jeffrey.
