Marion K. Schroeder was born on November 25, 1922 in Syracuse, Nebraska to William H. and Lena C. (Mullis) Schroeder. He passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Syracuse, Nebraska at the age of 84 years, 2 Months and 27 Days.
Married, Dorthea M. Tennant in Fremont (7/20/50). Lived in Syracuse his entire life other than when he was in the military. Pipeline foreman for Northern Natural Gas. Admiral in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska. He was employed with Northern Natural Gas for 32 years and retired in 1984. He served in North Africa, Burma and India. Lifetime member, National China. Member: Burma and India Association and Massie-Richards Post No. 100; American Legion, Syracuse. Lifetime/charter member: World War II Memorial Society. He was a 50-Year and Past-Master of Mount Moriah Lodge No. 50 AF&AM, Syracuse. Member: Royal Arch Masons, Roy and Select Masons, Order of Knights Templar and Shriner Tangier Temple of Omaha. He was also a 50-year lifetime, Past Commander and member of VFW Post No. 5547, Syracuse. World War II and Korean War veteran, Navy Sea Bees. Marion was a member of the Sea Bee Veterans Club of America and Nebraska Island, CB No. 1. Member: National Plymouth Owners Club and Chartered member: Prairie Region Plymouth 4 and 6 Cylinder Club.

Hergenrader and fiance Ronald Hansen, Lincoln; grandsons, Christopher Koch and wife, Trudy, Lincoln, Tim Hergenrader, Milford, Michael Schroeder and wife, Kim, Plattsmouth, Patrick Schroeder and wife Linda, Montesano, Wash.; granddaughters, Dorine Riddle and husband, Tim, Lyon, Stacey Kock and Julie Hergenrader, Lincoln; great-grandsons, Cody, Dylan, Cole, Kellen, Patrick, Tyler and Daniel; great-granddaughters, Elizabeth, Bryanna, Siara, Devin, Klaya, Tamara and Jesse; great-great grandson: Anthony; great-great granddaughter, Alexandrea; sister-in-law, Thelma Schroeder, Cortland; nieces; nephews. Preceded in death by: parents; two brothers.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 26, 2007 at the Fusselman-Wymore Funeral Home, Syracuse. The Rev. Richard Dimond.
Burial will be in the Park Hill Cemetery, Syracuse,Nebraska with Full military rites by: Mid-Otoe County VFW No. 5547 and Massie-Richards Post No. 100, American Legion, both of Syracuse.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 25th from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday; family greeting friends and receiving family and friends from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Monday, funeral home; 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. service Monday, funeral home.
The family suggests Memorials in lieu of flowers to the Syracuse Rescue, Mount Moriah Lodge or United Methodist Church, all of Syracuse. q
