IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marlene
Weatherhogg
September 5, 1939 – October 12, 2025
Marlene Weatherhogg, 86, of Palmyra, passed away on October 12, 2025. She was born September 5, 1939, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Harold and Maxine (Porter) Dowding.
Growing up, 4-H and its many activities were a central part of Marlene's life. She cherished holidays, family traditions, and the special moments spent with loved ones. These are values she carried with her throughout her lifetime. In January 1966, Marlene was united in marriage to Leslie "Betz" Weatherhogg in Palmyra, Nebraska.
Marlene devoted herself to caring for others, working as a nanny and later as a cook at the Palmyra schools. However, the work she loved most was her long career as a house cleaner. She was known for her meticulous attention to detail and her unwavering dedication to those she served. Her own home reflected that same care and pride, always kept neat and welcoming.
Family was at the heart of Marlene's life. She treasured time spent with her nieces and nephews, and later, her great-nieces and great-nephews. A lifelong member of the Palmyra Methodist Church and the Eastern Star, Marlene also stayed closely connected to her community, often taking drives through town to keep up with what was happening.
Her warmth, care, and commitment to family and community will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Marlene is survived by her siblings Marilyn Parks, Galyn Dowding, Beverly (Glen) Emswiler, Peggy (Ken) Bills, Marcia Summers, brother-in-law & sister-in-law Bill (Esther) Weatherhogg, Marie (Merrill) Mason, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sister, Twyla Lynn, brother-in-law Jim Summers, and sister-in-law, Ann Mallory.
