Marvin C. Oehlerking, age 87, of Murdock, Nebraska, passed away on October 31, 2023, at The Monarch in Lincoln, NE. He was born on February 8, 1936, to Alvin A. and Lily B. (Schroeder) Oehlerking at his parents' home near Wabash, NE. Marvin lived his entire life within a mile of where he was born, a testament to his deep connection to his roots.

Marvin graduated from Murdock High School in 1954, and he then dedicated himself to helping his father on the family farm before enlisting in the United States Army in November of 1956. On April 1, 1961, Marvin was united in marriage to the love of his life, Ramona I. Kolbo, at the Calvary Evangelical United Brethren Church in Fremont, NE. Their love story began several years before at the Riverside Park Church Camp in Milford, NE, a place where the foundation of their lifelong partnership was laid.

Marvin had a deep passion for farming, and he spent 31 1/2 years operating a dairy operation in addition to his farming endeavors. His dedication to agriculture was not only a profession but a way of life. The land he nurtured and the animals he cared for were a testament to his love for his family and the community he cherished.

Marvin and Ramona shared a love for exploring the world. They cherished their travels and took every opportunity to experience different places and cultures. He possessed a talent for woodworking. He poured his creativity and love into crafting unique gifts, including a rocking horse that he lovingly made for one of his granddaughters.

He is survived by his wife Ramona Oehlerking of Murdock, daughter, Sue (Tony) Smith of Murdock, son, Dave (Barb) Oehlerking of Murdock, four grandchildren, Lindsay Oehlerking, Tyler Oehlerking, Meighan Smith and Dawson Smith.  He is also survived by brothers-in-law, Earl Higgins of Lincoln, Doug (Rosemary) Kolbo of Dallas, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Myron (Marilyn) Oehlerking, sisters, Eunice Higgins, Ardyth (Ron) Banzhaf and brother-in-law Richard Kolbo.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Murdock, Nebraska with Pastor Michelle Chesnut, officiating.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with family greeting friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be directed to Emmanuel Evangelical Cemetery, Elmwood Rescue or St. Jude  Children's Research Hospital.
