Mary S. Knutson, 93 of Syracuse, passed away on March 3, 2018 at the Syracuse Community Memorial Hospital. She was born on December 26, 1924 to John & Lena (Fritschen) Zapp in Woonsocket, SD.

Mary married John Knutson on May 28, 1949 in Mitchell, SD. She worked for over 30 years at the Good Samaritan Society. Mary was very active at St. Paulinus Catholic Church, belonging to the Altar Society and teaching Catechism. She enjoyed reading, playing cards with friends and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her Children: Marshall (Doreen) Knutson of Kaukauna, WI, Janelle (Sieb) Postma of Charlottesville, VA, Carmen (Doug) Seiler of Fergus Falls, MN, David (Eileen) Knutson of Medford, OR, Greg (Mary) Knutson of Dufur, OR; Grandchildren: Michael, Jodi, Stephanie, John, Kelsay, Britta; Great Grandchildren: Alyssa, Mackensie; Great Great Grandchildren: Ryker, Tennison, Bronson; Siblings: Helen Zapp, Ann Zapp, Jim Zapp, Gertrude "Pete" Sigler all of Rapid City, SD; Good Friend: Donna McWilliams; also many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister-in-law: Delores Zapp; brother-in-law: Bob Sigler.

Family will greet friends at 9:30 A.M. on Tuesday, March 6 at St. Paulinus Catholic Church. A rosary will then be held at 10:00 A.M. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. also at church. The casket will be closed at church.

Burial will be at Park Hill cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 5 from 1 P.M. until 6 P.M. at the funeral home in Syracuse, with viewing.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paulinus Building Fund.
