Mary Lou Koterzina was born July 23, 1935 to Albert and Ruby Irene (Houchin) Braun. She died on Thursday, May 22, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Society in Millard, Nebraska, at the age of 78 years old.

Mary Lou graduated from Hebron, Nebraska High School. She married Rodney Bender and to this union they had 4 children Christine, Kelly, Kirk, and Kevin. Rodney died in January 1968. She married Frank Koterzina Jr. in November 1969. She worked for Boy's Town as an Executive Secretary and was instrumental in getting the Visitor Center at Boy's Town. Mary Lou loved cooking for her family, going shopping, and listening to music.

Mary Lou is survived by her daughter Christine and husband Bruce Forrell, of Arcadia, California, sons Kelly Bender, Kirk and wife Leslie Bender, all of Omaha, Nebraska, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, sisters Marilyn and husband Jim McDermet, of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Judy Braun, of Fresno, California.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, brother Charles (Chuck) Braun, husband Rodney Bender, son Kevin Bender, husband Frank Koterzina Jr., and great granddaughter Kaia Marie Bender.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 24, 2014, from 1:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Private family funeral services will be at a later date.
