Mary Joan Sprieck, 78 of Louisville, Nebraska, was born on September 26, 1946, to Elmer John & Eileen Dorothy (Sutton) Sprieck in Omaha, Nebraska. She passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024, at Homestead Assisted Living in Albia.

Mary attended Peru State College in her pursuit for higher education and would later receive her master's degree. For two decades she would devote her professional life to enriching young minds as an elementary school teacher. She taught 1st and 3rd grades, leaving an indelible mark on countless students with her warmth and dedication. After leaving the teaching profession, she bought the newspaper in Elk Horn, IA called Villages Voice which she ran until her retirement.

Beyond the classroom, Mary was a gifted singer who captivated audiences in her hometown's musical productions, including performances in shows such as "Hello Dolly." Her love for music was infectious, and she continued to share her talent and passion even after a dementia diagnosis, singing beautifully at Homestead and bringing joy to those around her.

Mary is survived by her daughter Lynn (Casady) Scheetz; grandchildren Casady Jo & husband Ryan Scheetz, Lukas Jon Vopnford; great grandchildren Rory Tucker Scheetz, Elsie Mae Scheetz & Tinsley Evelyn Scheetz.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters: Ruth Ann Phelan & Jean Elizabeth Barnhart.

A celebration of life gathering will be held on Friday, December 27th from 1-3 p.m. with family at the Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home in Louisville, NE.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
