Matthew J. Scheinost, 39 of Lincoln, NE, passed away on September 11, 2024, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on June 13, 1985, to Don & Sherrie (Hier) Scheinost in Lincoln. Matt graduated from Syracuse High School in the class of 2003. On April 9, 2011, he married Lindsey Thummel in Syracuse and together they were blessed with Avarie & Kaysen.
Matt lived a full life with many interests and passions. He loved Toyota trucks, camping, catfishing, sprint cars, cards, dominos, Broncos football, smoking meat and time with family and friends. He took great pride in his work and his relationships with coworkers over the past twenty years. He cherished every moment he had as a father and husband. He was the life of the party and was loved by many.
He is survived by his wife Lindsey Scheinost; children Avarie & Kaysen Scheinost; father Don (Marcia) Scheinost; siblings Mike (Sydnee) Scheinost, Miranda Scheinost, Sam Scheinost; step siblings Mandi Houston, Melissa Maule, Jainess Hunter; in-laws Brad (Mary) Thummel, Bean Thummel & Harold Stubbendick, grandmother in-law Granny Fannon; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Trentin Thummel, Seranna (Tyrone) Godfrey, Rae (Chelsea) Church; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother Sherrie Hier, sister Amanda Scheinost, grandparents, aunts & uncles.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 17th at 2:00 pm at St. John's Lutheran Church in Otoe, NE. Show up as you are – Camo shorts, racing shirts, Broncos gear – just do you, Matt always did. The service will be livestreamed on the Fusselman Facebook page.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 15th from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home in Syracuse.
Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.
