Maxine was born July 9, 1924, in Omaha, Nebraska, to N.L. and Julie (Sorensen) Grubbs. She passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2009, at the Community Memorial Hospital, in Syracuse, Nebraska, at the age of 85 years, and 10 days.

Maxine married Roy Walters, on October 14, 1942, in Rockport, Missouri, to this union they raised a daughter Gerri. Roy passed away, August 1944, in World War II, she married, John Compton, on August 12, 1946, in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. To this union they raised 2 children Keith, and Tom. Her and John were Owner / Operator's of Johnie & Maxine's Tavern, in Avoca, Nebraska, and Syracuse, Nebraska, Krystal Kitchens in Syracuse, Nebraska, and Compton's Drive Inn, Syracuse.

Maxine is survived by her daughter, Gerri Eisenhauer, sons, Keith & wife Kathy Compton, and Tom & wife Rita Compton, all of Syracuse, Nebraska, grandchildren, Allen & Deb Eisenhauer, of Bennet, Nebraska, Jan & Chris Moore, of Unadilla, Nebraska, Jon & Darcie Compton, of Lincoln, Nebraska step-grandchildren, K.C. & Melinda Ortiz, of Syracuse, Nebraska Greg & Tami Mueller, of Syracuse, Nebraska, Travis & Julie Hogancamp, of Cook, Nebraska, great grandchildren, Allison Turner & Chloe Moore, Hannah & Maggie Eisenhauer, step-great grandchildren, Morgan & Trey Mueller & Mia & Abby Ortiz, also survived by many other relatives and many friends.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roy Walters, (1944) & John Compton, (1994) son-in-law James Eisenhauer, (2008).

A Gathering will be held at T.C. Place following the Graveside Services.

Graveside Services will be 2:00 P.M. at Park Hill Cemetery, Syracuse, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to Families Choice.

Visitation will be Tuesday 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6:30 until 8:00 P.M. all at the Funeral Home.
