Obituary
Maynard Donald Meyer was born on August 4, 1943 in Otoe, Nebraska to Harvey and Freda (Bruns) Meyer. He passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at Byran LGH Medical Center East in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 64 years, 6 months and 1 day.
Maynard grew up in the Otoe area and later moved to Syracuse where he made his home. He was united in marriage on November 2, 1963 to Margie Miller in Nebraska City, Nebraska and together they raised two children, Patty and Brian. Maynard owned and operated Meyer's Body Shop in Syracuse for 35 years and he also operated the local Laundromat for 25 years. He was a 17 year member of the Syracuse Volunteer Fire Department. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting woodworking and gardening. One of his greatest joys was the time he was able to spend with his two granddaughters, Kaylee and Kendall.
He is survived by his Wife: Margie Meyer of Syracuse, NE; Son: Brian Meyer and wife Michelle of Syracuse, NE; Granddaughters: Kaylee and Kendall Meyer of Syracuse, NE; Brothers: Ralph Meyer of Otoe, NE; Donald Meyer and wife Carol of Syracuse, NE; Dean Meyer and wife Diane of Bryan, TX; Sisters: Wilma Brethouwer of Lincoln, NE: Lois Groathouse and husband John of Otoe, NE; Irene Dietrick and husband Roy of Humboldt, NE. Brother-in-law: Kenneth Kuhns of Nebraska City, NE; Roland Miller of Syracuse, NE: Sister-in-law: Hazel Lawton and husband Larry of Syracuse, NE. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and friends
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Daughter: Patty Meyer, Brother: Alvin and Sister: Mary.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 8, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at St. John's United Church of Christ, 511 - 7th Street, Syracuse, NE with Rev. John Finster officiating.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 7th from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. at the Funeral Home and Friday, February 8th from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M.
He will be buried in the Otoe Cemetery in Rural Otoe, Nebraska
