Melvin Paul Giittinger age 78 of Otoe, NE, died at Syracuse Good Samaritan on October 7, 2013. He was born December 12, 1934 in Nebraska City, NE to Paul and Ella (Hermann) Giittinger.

Mel is survived by wife Evelyn of Otoe, NE, son Nick & Jenny Giittinger, of Breau Bridge, LA, daughter Cindy & Rhett Snyder, of Syracuse, NE, grandchildren Paige & Nikole Giittinger, Ty, Nate, Brooke Snyder, brother Marvin & Murilla Giittinger, of Nebraska City, NE, brother-in-law Jess Adams, of Sun Lakes, AZ, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mel was preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenneth Giittinger and sister Shirley Adams.

Melvin married Evelyn Freudenberg on December 16, 1957, in Avoca, Nebraska. He farmed and was the owner of the Otoe Steakhouse for many years. He was a member at Bethel United Church of Christ and involved with Eagles, Elks, 4-H Leader and "Swings" Charity Golf Tournament.

Funeral services will be Saturday October 12, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at Bethel United Church of Christ, Nebraska City, NE, with burial at Wyuka Cemetery, Nebraska City, NE. Family request memorials to Families Choice.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 10, 2013, from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6 until 8 P.M., and Friday from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. at the Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home 644 Park Street, Syracuse, Nebraska
