Merlin "Mert" Lange, 88 of Palmyra, was born Oct. 30, 1933, in Syracuse, NE to August and Thelma (Miller) Lange. He passed away on July 19, 2022, at Bryan West in Lincoln, NE.

He was united in marriage on Aug. 14, 1952, in the Unadilla Christian Church to Velva Schulze and to this union they raised 3 children: Vickie, Dan, and Julie. He worked one summer after graduating high school with Burlington Railroad. He worked at Sears and for 30 plus years with the Nebraska Department of Roads driving a gas transport. He enjoyed motorcycles, his ski boat, old western movies & tv shows, old country music and going to Eagle Raceway.

He is survived by his children: Vickie Lange of Palmyra, NE, Dan & Cindy Lange of Hickman, NE, Julie & Mike Gerhart of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren Matt & Sarah Wellman of Adams, NE, Nicholas Gerhart of Lincoln, NE, Melissa & Brandon Donovan of Bennet, NE, and Nicole & Jason Borgelt of Omaha, NE. He is also survived by his great grandchildren: Addison Donovan, Jaden Fass, Emersyn Borgelt and Tinsley Borgelt. Also surviving are his sister Shirley Dively of Lincoln, NE and Cheryl & Bob McCracken of Littleton, CO.

He was preceded in death by his spouse, parents, sister Veryl (Vicki) Cheatum, Garry Lange, Ronald Lange and brothers-in-law Frank Schulze and Daryl Dively.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 23 at 10 a.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ in Syracuse. The service will be livestreamed on the Fusselman Facebook page. Burial will be at the Unadilla Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
