Merwyn Eloise Stubbendeck, 98 of Unadilla, passed away on January 16, 2025, at the Syracuse Hospital. She was born on December 18, 1926, in Cleveland, TN to Robert C. & Edna Lauderback. On June 8, 1964, she married Edgar Stubbendeck in Lincoln.

Eloise worked for Russell Stover in Lincoln for 21 years before finishing her career working alongside Edgar on the family farm. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Syracuse and enjoyed taking entries to the Otoe County and State fairs. She also loved tending to her flower and vegetable garden.

She is survived by her daughter Terry Thorpe; son Dane Jolley Sr. & wife Lisa; grandchildren Richard Thorpe, Mackenzie Thorpe; great grandchildren Ethan Thorpe, Dane Jolley III, Kaya Jolley, Layla Jolley and granddaughter-in-law Rebecca Jolley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edgar, grandson Dane Jolley Jr., and siblings Margaret, Robert Jr. & Virginia.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 21 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church (North Branch) in rural Avoca. The service will be livestreamed on the First Lutheran Youtube page. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 20 from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. with family greeting friends from 4-6 p.m. at the Fusselman Allen Harvey Funeral Home in Syracuse.

Memorials are suggested to the First Lutheran Church (North Branch) or St. Croix Hospice.
