Michael E. Jones, 73 of Eagle, passed away at his home on June 7, 2024. He was born on September 12, 1950, to William D. & Oma D. (Thorburn) Jones in St. Joseph, MO.
Michael proudly served his country in the Army from 1969 to 1972 and continued his commitment in the reserves until 1975, during which time he pursued his education in Savannah, MO, and Denver, CO where he received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
Throughout his career, Mike held various positions within the federal government, including roles in housing development, the Corps of Engineers, and the US Navy. Most commonly, he served as a construction analyst. Outside of work, Mike was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, an avid antique enthusiast, a passionate hunter, and a devoted animal lover, always sharing his home with pets. Known for his great sense of humor, he was often the life of the party. Above all, Mike cherished his family and dedicated himself to providing for and taking care of them.
Michael was a member of the Eagle United Methodist Church, where he found a sense of community and faith. He also proudly served as a member of the Patriot Guard, honoring and supporting veterans and their families. In addition, Michael was a passionate supporter of Til Valhalla, a cause close to his heart.
He is survived by his children, Michael "Sarge" Jones II and Rachel (Larry) Williams; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister Sandy Jones; loving companion Clancy Smith; aunt Della Jones and cousins Jeff Wilson and Evelyn Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a great grandson.
Honoring Mike's wishes, no service will be held. A burial will take place at Omaha National Cemetery at a later date.
