Michael Jay Maier, age 70 of Springfield, NE passed away peacefully at his home in Springfield, Nebraska, on July 20, 2023. He was born on December 9, 1952, in Omaha, Nebraska, to his devoted parents, Christopher and Betty Maier (Salberg).
Michael's journey began at Louisville High School, where he graduated in 1971, setting the stage for a life of dedication and service. At the end of the Vietnam War, he joined the United States Army, where he served with pride and distinction.
After his time in the military, Michael pursued a career in plumbing, becoming a Master Plumber. His strong work ethic and passion for helping others shone through in every project he took on. He dedicated himself to his craft until his well-deserved retirement. Beyond his profession, Michael was a man of many passions, an avid Husker fan, enjoyment for golfing, fishing, watching movies, and collecting hats.
Additionally, Michael held a pyrotechnic license and delighted in organizing grand firework displays for his cherished friends and family. The way his eyes would light up with excitement during these moments was a testament to his boundless enthusiasm for creating memories and bringing joy to others. Family was at the center of Michael's life, and spending time with his loved ones brought him joy. He cherished attending games and activities of his grandkids, always making sure to show his support and love.
He is survived by his sons, Jeremy (Jamie) Maier, Springfield, NE, Chris (Danita) Maier, Omaha, NE daughters, Jennifer (Daniel) Millimet, Southlake, TX, Jodi Garza, Phoenix, AZ, Shayna (Matt) Hill, Omaha, NE, 15 grandchildren, Austin, Anthony, Hunter, Cade, Kaylyn, Raygen, Izabella, Asher, Beau, Tyler, Angel, Romeo, Olivia, Camden and Meredith 5 great grandchildren, Julian, Andrew, Negan, Claire and Navy, sister, Peggy (Duane) Anderson, LaVista, NE, brother, Larry (fiancé Penny) Maier, Benkleman, NE.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Christopher and Betty Maier and wife Becky Maier.
Visitation, Wed, July 26, 2023 from 4-8 PM with family greeting friends from 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home.
