Michael Matchus

Michael "Mikie" Carl Matchus was born on April 8, 1991 to John and Jill Naumann Matchus in Peru, Illinois. He died on Saturday, June 20, 2009 in South Bend, Nebraska at the age of 18 years, 2 months, and 12 days.

Mikey moved with his family from Peru, Illinois to Louisville in 1993. Mikie was baptized into the Lutheran faith. Mikie was active in school and was a member of the Trap Team, Power Drive Team, and Skills, USA, He was involved in all sports, including gymnastics and bowling, Mikie enjoyed fishing, riding his Harley, 4-wheeling, and spending time with family and friends. Mikie was able to have a conversation with anyone, no matter their age. His ready smile and calm, confident manner will be missed.

Mikie is survived by his Mother – Jill Matchus of Louisville, NE, Father – John Matchus of Louisville, Brother – Kyle of Louisville, Grandparents – John and Jean Matchus of Utica, Illinois, Gary and Jeanne Naumann of Tonica, Illinois, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal Aunt Julie Hegland.

Funeral Service will be Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at the Cass County Fairgrounds, South of 8400 & 144th Street, Weeping Water, NE, with burial at Glendale Cemetery.

VISITATION will be Friday, June 26, 2009 from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M., at the Funeral Home, and the casket will be open one hour before services at the Fairgrounds.
