Mildred Carey, daughter of Guy & Lena (Knickman) Johnson, was born on the family farm Northwest of Syracuse, on January 28, 1930. After a lengthy illness she departed this life, in the presence of her husband and son at her home in Syracuse, on August 28, 2009 at the age of 79 years and 7 months.

She graduated from Syracuse High School, in 1947. She then attended Lincoln School of Commerce. On June 19, 1949, she was United in Marriage to Don Carey, at the Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, in Syracuse, Nebraska.

Mildred worked as a bookkeeper for many years at the Community Memorial Hospital.

She was preceded in Death by her Parents.

Mildred is survived by her husband Don, Son & Daughter-in-law Scott & Sarah Carey, of Syracuse, Grandsons Matthew & Ashley Carey, of Bellevue, Daniel Carey & Kay, of Syracuse, and one Great Granddaughter Justyce Carey.

Memorial Services will be Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at 11:00 A.M., at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, 1162 Mohawk, Syracuse, Nebraska, with burial at a later date. Family Suggests Memorials To the Families Choice.

Visitation will be Monday, August 31, 2009 from 9:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. all at the Funeral Home.
