Myldred Myrtle Dettmer, 92 of Syracuse, passed away on October 18, 2017 at Bryan West Hospital in Lincoln. She was born on July 3, 1925 in Unadilla to Oscar & Myrtle (Wiles) Kuenning.

Myldred married Harvey Dettmer on June 2, 1943 at the First Lutheran Church (North Branch) in rural Avoca. Over the years she worked at Steckleys, Miller & Paine, Dr. Moss's dental office, Syracuse Community Hospital, Common Threads and also was a seamstress.

She was very active in the community. Myldred was a member of the VFW Aux., Lions Club and TOPS. She also participated in Bible study at church, was selected as the GermanFest Queen and served in the information desk at the Nebraska State Fair for many years. Myldred judged many 4-H projects and loved working with the children in 4-H. She also loved quilting, sewing, cross-stich and did many alterations over the years.

Myldred is survived by her Son: Robert of Talmage; Daughter: Sandy Trehearn of Fremont; Granddaughters: Peg (Dave) Slagle of Lincoln, Stacy (Josh) Shide of Kansas City, KS, Amy (John) Jacquat of Erie, CO, Lisa (Mike) Gibson of Crooks, SD; Great Grandchildren: Cami Kopetka, Jaidyn Shide, Elena, MJ & Anna Jacquat, Tyler, Harper & Hendricks Gibson; Sisters: Betty Wallen, Arvilla Noerrlinger; Brother: Wilber Kuenning; Sister-in-law: Irene Kuenning; God Sons: Mike Wohlers & Steve Dettmer; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and many brothers, sisters and in-laws.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 21 at 10:30 A.M. at the First Lutheran Church (North Branch) in rural Avoca. Burial will be at the First Lutheran (North Branch) cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 20 from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6-7:30 P.M. at the funeral home in Syracuse.

Memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers to the First Lutheran Church (North Branch).
