Ned Thomas Lucas of Unadilla NE, passed away surrounded by his loving family on December 29, 2012 at the age of 85. He was born in Unadilla to Fred and Alice(Luff) Lucas on Aug 3, 1927.

Ned was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 65 yrs, Kathryn Elizabeth; Brother, Marvin Lucas (Jean) of Unadilla; Sons, Steve Lucas (Cathy) of Raymond; Brett Lucas( Donna) of Lincoln. Daughters, Lori Heine ( Jim) of Eagle; Deb Fischer ( Jim) of Lincoln; Shari Timm (Gordon Hopp) of Unadilla. He was graced with 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Ned graduated from Unadilla High School in 1944. Shortly after, he met the love of his life, Kathryn Ethington and made her his wife on May 18, 1946. Ned attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln on a Regents Scholarship and eventually returned to Unadilla where he began his lifelong career of farming. Ned also worked part time as a field measurer for the local ASCS office.

Ned had many loves. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, horses, farming, animals, Civil War history and most of all he loved his family and the precious time he spent with them. He was a member of the Coon Hunters Association, NRA, Sons of the Confederate Army, Sons of the Union Army, Izaak Walton League, Palmyra Rough Riders, Sampson Construction Trap Team and Theta Xi Fraternity. Ned was a lifelong member of the Unadilla Christian Church where he served as a Deacon. Ned's kind heart touched the lives of everyone who met him and will be dearly missed.

Funeral services will be Friday, January 4th, at 11:00 A. M. Family requests that if you are attending to please wear Casual Clothes. Services will be at Unadilla Christian Church in Unadilla, NE, with burial at Unadilla Cemetery. Family suggests Memorials in Lieu of flowers to the family.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M., with the family present from 6:30 until 8:00 P.M. all at the funeral home.
