Neva Pingree was born April 25, 1928, in Avoca, Nebraska to Ivan & Helen (Wilson) Buskirk. She passed away, November 21, 2009 at Bergan Mercy Hospital, in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 81 years, 6 months, and 27 days.
Neva was the 4th child of Ivan & Helen Buskirk. She moved with her parents & brothers to Louisville, NE in 1929, she attended and graduated from Louisville School. After Graduation she attended Omaha School of Commerce. In March 14, 1948 Neva married Ivan Alkire he Drowned on June 1, 1953, they had one son Aaron Alkire. In April 24, 1954 she and Eldon Pingree were married, and to this union one daughter Teena was born. Neva lived her whole life in and around Louisville. She worked as a sales clerk for Brandies for several years, and also worked at the Louisville Care Center.
Neva took care of her parents and her first In-laws also and aunt & uncle in Lincoln. She was one of the main ones in getting the Senior Center Started in Louisville. Neva was a member of the United Methodist Church, and the United Methodist Women, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Cass County 8&40 Salon, a member of the Navy Mothers, serving through County & State Offices in all.
Neva thought a lot of her Own Grandchildren and was Grandma to others. She was the happiest when doing for other people.
Neva is survived by her children Aaron and Cheryl Alkire, of Minden Teena & Steve Kammerer, of Omaha , and Barb & Doug Garday. 5 grandchildren Traci & JC Smith, Tonya & Doc Nickel, Trevor & April Alkire, Christian & Mikie Kammerer, Amanda & Scott Krumbholz, , Laura and Scott McPeak, Geneva Prendergast. 11 great grandchildren
Neva is preceded in Death by her parents, 1st husband Ivan Alkire, 2nd husband Eldon Pingree in 2004, brothers – Orville, Emory and Donald, sister Ava and grandson – Chris Prendergast
Funeral Services will be Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Fusselman-Wymore Funeral Home Chapel, 413 Elm Street. Louisville, NE, with burial at Riverview Cemetery, in Louisville, NE. Family Suggests Memorials To American Legion Auxiliary or American Cancer
VISITATION will be Friday, November 27th, 9 AM-9 PM with family present 6-8.
