Norma Jean Nessen, age 77 passed away on August 6, 2023, at her home in Louisville, Nebraska. Born on November 23, 1945, in Herlong, California, she was the daughter of Merlin Edward and Thelma Maxine (Miller) Baker.
Jean's journey began in her hometown of Louisville, where she graduated from Louisville High School in 1964. On June 10, 1967, she entered into matrimony with the love of her life, William R. Nessen, in a ceremony held at the Louisville Methodist Church.
She went on to become a dedicated para-professional in the Louisville Public Schools, impacting the lives of countless students with her caring and nurturing nature. As a homemaker, she poured her heart and soul into creating a warm and welcoming home. Jean was a member of the Louisville Methodist Church. She had a passion for the simple pleasures of life – she enjoyed sewing, gardening, and baking. Her devotion to her grandchildren was boundless, as she delighted in spoiling them and making lasting memories together.
Jean and her husband, Bill, shared a love of adventure and exploration, embarking on numerous travels that enriched their lives and brought them closer together. Her love for her family was evident in the time she spent with them, cherishing each moment and creating an enduring legacy of love and togetherness.
She is survived by her daughter, Nicolle (Scott) Woeste of Louisville and their children, Jordyn (Ben) Carrera and Joeie Gaebel, stepchildren, Trev (Amy) Nessen of Pagosa Springs, CO and their children, Mackenzie Nessen and Macayla (Matt) Schlechty, Raymond Wade Nessen of Phoenix, AZ, Cara (Andy) Arnott of Phoenix, AZ and her son, Nicholas McKinney. Siblings, Norman (Susie) Baker of Atascadero, CA, Cheryl (Marvin) Kupke of Louisville, NE, Gary (Carolyn) Baker of Peru, NE, Pam (Larry) Chubb of Plattsmouth, NE, Ken (Judy) Baker of Idaho City, ID, and Jane (Mitch) Herrington of Council Bluffs, IA. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband William Nessen, and sister-in-law, Kathryn Meyer.
A celebration of life gathering will be held on Sunday, August 13, 2023 from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home in Louisville, Nebraska.
Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.
