Norma B. (Speth) Smith, 88 of Palmyra, NE, passed away on May 25, 2023, in Syracuse, NE. She was born on December 13, 1934, to Charles and Lola (Brant) Speth in Palmyra.

Norma graduated from Palmyra High School in 1953. Following graduation, she moved to Lincoln where she lived with relatives. She began working at the University of Nebraska as a dishwasher and server. While working at UNL she learned how to fix numerous machines and helped whenever they broke down. She moved back to Palmyra where she married James H. Smith in 1958 and started their family. They raised six children: Ken Smith of Lincoln, Terry (Karen) Smith of Dorchester, Roger (Sally) Smith of Palmyra, Leslie Smith, Cindy (Guy) Mathers of Lincoln and Tracy Greiner of Lincoln. She has 12 grandchildren: Kyle, Jessalyn, Stephanie, Mathew, Kaci, Nicholas, Nathaniel, Tosha, Benjamin, Tyler, Austin and Ian; 16 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Norma had a big heart and will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. Some of her hobbies and favorite things to do were going to her children's activities, gardening, raising all kinds of animals, tatting and fishing just to name a few.

She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Lola, her husband James Smith, brother Harold Speth, grandson Ian Smith and many other friends, family, and relatives.

A memorial service will be held at the Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home located at 644 Park St. Syracuse, NE on June 2, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. The memorial service will be livestreamed on the Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Facebook page. Graveside services will follow at the Rosewood Cemetery in Palmyra. A celebration of life will be held at the Palmyra Senior Activity Center following the graveside services.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
