Obituary

Orvil "Dody" G. Holz was born on June 20, 1945 in Lynch, Nebraska to Orvil W. and Esta Lerie (Lee) Holz. He passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at his home in Syracuse, Nebraska at the age of 66 years, 1 month and 8 days.

Orvil married Linda Madsen on July 7, 1973 in Omaha, Nebraska at St. Thomas More Church. To this union they raised 5 children, Ryan, Wally, Adam, Tony and Lerie. He served in the US Army National Guard during the Vietnam Era.

Orvil retired from O.P.P.D after 35 years of being a mechanic. He also was a S-D-A school bus driver and worked in the Maintenance department at CMH. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus in Syracuse, American Legion Post #100, Coordinator of American Legion Baseball, Syracuse Jaycees, Rescue Squad and was a baseball coach.

He is survived by his Wife Linda of Syracuse, NE, Son Ryan & wife Kim and children Jacob, Jacqueline, and Joshua of Cassville, MO, Son Wally and children Tyler and Trenton of Bloomfield, NE, Son Adam & wife Lori and children Emily, Kyle, and Carson of Syracuse, NE, Son Tony & wife Holly and child Andrew of Omaha, NE, Daughter Lerie of Omaha, NE, Brothers Allen, Matthew & wife Kae both of Lynch, NE, Sisters Dorothy & Robert Langenhorst & Debra & Randy Black both of Lynch, NE, Diana & Mike Baumeister of Norfolk, NE, Sister-in-law Loris Holz of Lynch, also many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his Parents Orvil and Esta Holz, Brother Fredrick "Fritz", Parents-in-law Edward & Claire Madsen

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 1, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paulinus Catholic Church in Syracuse, Nebraska with Father Michael Stec officiating.

Visitation will be Saturday from noon until 9 P.M. and Sunday from 9 A.M. until 4 P.M. at the Funeral Home. It will resume at 5 P.M. until the start of Rosary at 7 P.M. at the church.

Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery in Syracuse, Nebraska.

Memorials may be given to St. Paulinus Building Fund, American Legion Baseball, or the American Cancer Society.
