Jerry Gottberg was born on July 6, 1935 to William and Irene (Tetzloff) Gottberg at Madison, Nebraska.  He died on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at his home in Union, Nebraska at the age of 78 years, 9 months, and 25 days

After graduation from Madison High School, Madison, Nebraska, Jerry attended the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. From 1955 to 1958, he served his country as a member of the United States Army.  Jerry entered seminary in Springfield, Illinois and was ordained in 1963 at Madison, Nebraska.  He started his theology career in 1963 at Lacey, Washington.  In 1970, he was Pastor of the church at Winside, Nebraska. In 1978, he moved to Louisville, Nebraska to become Pastor to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Congregation.  He retired in 1997.

On June 7, 1959, Jerry married Janette Hilst in Herington, Kansas.  To this union were born three children – Janelle, Bill, and Kathy. Pastor loved being with his family, but also enjoyed bicycling, running, working on cars, boating and being around the water, and later in life carpentry.

Jerry is survived by his wife Jan Gottberg, of Union, NE, Janelle and Michael Spoto, of Millard, NE, Bill and Pam Gottberg, of Gretna, NE, Kathy Zipp and Rachel Young, of Portland, OR, grandchildren, Dana Spoto, Paul Spoto, Nyssa Spoto, Sean Spoto, Jared Gottberg, Seth Gottberg, Jacob Gottberg, Ryan Gottberg, Xander Zipp, and Marlin Young, great granddaughter Jadyn Spoto. Sister Kay and Jerry Finkral, of Norfolk, NE.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services for Pastor Gottberg will be  Tuesday, May 6 ^th , 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 36712 Church Road, Louisville, NE

with the Rev. Jon Sollberger officiating.  Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
