Philip Charles Stroy age 74 of Murdock, Nebraska passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at his home. He was born on October 29, 1946 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Elbert and Lorna (Stoller) Stroy.
Phil grew up on the family farm in rural Murdock, Nebraska and graduated from Murdock High School in 1964. He was united in marriage to Judy Casteel on January 6, 1967 at the First United Methodist Church in Louisville, Nebraska. Together they raised two sons, John and Mike. He went to work for Western Electric which later became AT&T. During his years with them, he obtained his Federal Dept. of Labor Machinist Journeyman Licenses. After 21 years, he left AT&T and returned to his family's farming operation.
Phil had a love for motorcycles and his 1966 Super Sport Chevelle when he young. Farming was not only his job, but his passion. He enjoyed caring for the land and carrying on his family legacy. He also had a love for trap shooting. Phil was actively involved in the local trap league as a coordinator, along with coaching the local Louisville Jr/Sr. High School Trap Team for several years. He and Judy enjoyed time together at their cabin in Canada, where he enjoyed fishing and relaxing. He also enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips throughout the years.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, served on the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery Board, including serving as Cemetery Treasurer, was a Leader for LYF, and Cub Scouts. Phil enjoyed spending time with his family including many trips to the Burwell Rodeo.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Stroy of Murdock, NE, sons, John (Rosetta) Stroy of Murdock, NE, Mike (Stephanie) Stroy of Louisville, NE, grandchildren, Brent (Lindsey) Staack, Brittany (Joel) Wiley, Wyatt Stroy, Nolan Stroy and Ella Stroy, great grandchildren, Adam Staack, Sloan Wiley, and Brielle Wiley, sisters, Carol Boes of San Mateo, CA, Peggy (George) Mills of Raymond, NE and Marilyn Kerans of Louisville, NE, one niece, six nephews and two brother-in-laws Elliot Casteel, Tom Casteel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and two brother-in-laws Bill Boes and Danny Kerans.
Funeral Services will be Monday, October 11, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Murdock, NE with Rev. Brent Kuhlman officiating.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 10, 2021 from 1-4 PM at Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home in Louisville, resuming from 5-8 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church where the family will greet friends.
A luncheon will follow the Funeral Service at the Cass County Fair Grounds, all are welcome to attend.
Memorials may be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery or Elmwood Rescue Squad.
