Obituary

Phyllis "Grannie" Brandes was born on June 21, 1931, in Walthill, Nebraska, to Clarence "Stub" & Katherine (Bourelle) Riggs. She passed away, surrounded by family on Friday, January 11, 2013, at the age of 81 years, 6 months, and 21 days.

Phyllis married Clarence Brandes on September 26, 1948, in South Sioux City, Nebraska. Of this union 5 children were born, Kathy, Donna, Sue, Bobbi, & Bill. They lived in Bancroft from 1948 ~ 1956. They moved to Louisville in 1956. She cooked for Camp Esther K. Newman, Camp Harriet Harding, Louisville Café's, Louisville Public Schools, and Louisville Care Center. Grannie loved cooking, family, fishing, trips to North Platte, and watching Husker Football. She was the first person there in times of need with her homemade comfort food. Her proudest accomplishment was her husband of 64 years, her five children & families, 16 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, & 1 great great grandchild. She retired in 1989 from Louisville Care Center.

She is survived by her husband Clarence, of 64 years, of Louisville, NE, daughters Kathy (Joe) Hudson, Donna (Doug) Erhart, Sue (Gary) Buck, and Bobbi (Kit) Cooper, and son Bill Brandes, 16 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild, sisters Jackie Funkhouser, of Cedar Creek, NE, Barb (Jack) Rohde, of Fremont, NE, and June King, of Oklahoma, sister-in-law Gloria (Eldon) Fuxa. Special friends Diane Read & Elaine Storovich.

Phyllis is preceded in Death by her father & mother Clarence (Stub) & Zella Riggs, brothers Bill, Lum, & Baynard, sisters Annette & Sharon.

Memorial service and Celebration of Life will be Sunday from 2:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., on January 20, 2013 at Cass County Fair Grounds Expo Center, Hwy 1 & 144 Street, Weeping Water, NE. Family Request you wear casual dress jeans and Husker Shirts. Memorials are suggested to the family to be distributed to Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center, Omaha, NE, and Tabitha Hospice Care.

NO Visitation or viewing, but the Funeral Home will receive Flowers on Saturday, January 19th.
