Polly Saltmarsh
Polly was born April 25, 1915, in Lebanon, Indiana, to Shulyer and Mary (Stephenson) Rice. She passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at the Louisville Care Center at the age of 94 years, 3 months, and 11 days.
On July 4, 1937, in Greencastle, Indiana, Polly married Elmore (Salty) Saltmarsh. To this union, four children were born – Sylvia, Sybil, Nancy, and Mark. She loved to play bridge and played monthly in a women's bridge group. Polly loved to read, with The Upper Room and her Bible being her favorite reading material. Polly had traveled to all fifty states, all provinces of Canada, and England. She was a founding member of the Louisville Senior Citizen's Center. Polly was an active member of the Louisville First United Methodist Church and the Cass County Republican Women. Polly worked as Deputy Registrar of Deeds for Cass County, and ten years as secretary of Louisville Schools. She loved her family dearly, and was a good friend to many people.
Relatives Surviving include children - daughters Sylvia Bentley, of Hardin, TX, Sybil Henderson, of Louisville, NE, Nancy and husband Gary Stander, of Louisville, NE, son Mark Saltmarsh, of Minneapolis, MN, and honorary daughter Jean Ann Heim, of Louisville, NE, 10 grandchildren, Shannon, Michelle, Jennifer, Chad, Amy, Brian, Ian, Adam, Dale, and Amanda, 11 great grandchildren, and 2 great,great grandsons.
Polly was preceded in Death by her parents, husband Elmore Saltmarsh, 3 brothers Philip, Don, and William, and sons-in-law Leonard Bentley, and Stanley Henderson.
MEMORIAL SERVICES will be Friday, August 7, 2009, at 10:30 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church, 222 Walnut Street, Louisville, NE
Burial will be in Oakhill Cemetery, Lebanon, Indiana, at a later date.
Family Suggests Memorials To: First United Methodist Church, Louisville, NE, or the Louisville Senior Center.
