Raymond A. Dalby, 91 of Syracuse, passed away on October 10, 2023, at the Syracuse Good Samaritan Center. He was born on October 13, 1931, in Arcadia, Nebraska to Thomas & Ethel (Ryan) Dalby. Ray was a 1949 graduate of Arcadia High School.

On December 17, 1950, Ray married Shirley Owens in Arcadia. He worked as a production supervisor at Goodyear Tire and later owned Larry's Liquor in North Platte, as well as Coast to Coast hardware store in Columbus and finally worked for Wilke Landscape. After retirement he continued to stay busy by helping at MK Meats in Unadilla.

Ray was a talented woodworker and a jack of all trades, who had an eye for inventing and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He cherished spending time outdoors, particularly deer hunting and camping. As an avid Nebraska sports fan, Ray loved watching football, volleyball, and basketball. Ray was also a member of the Waverly Methodist Church. Above all, he loved supporting and cheering on his grandchildren in their activities.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years Shirley; son Randy Dalby; daughter Joni (Tom) Hruby; grandchildren Kristy (Brian) McGarry, Kelly (Mark) Detrio, Kasey Dalby, Karly Dalby, Melissa (Luke) Boldt, Mike Weyers (Darci), Jes (Bobby) Martin; great grandchildren Jack McGarry, Dylan & Peyton Detrio, Haylee, Sam & Katy Boldt, Harper & Lucy Weyers, Ray, Molly & Will Martin; sister Gayle, brother Willy; also many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Charles.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fusselman Funeral Home in Syracuse. The service will be livestreamed on the Fusselman Facebook page. Burial will be at a later date at the Arcadia Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
