Raymond August Schroeder was born September 11, 1920 on a farm near Dunbar, NE. Son of Edward and Alvina (Kehlbeck) Schroeder. Raymond died January 12, 2020 at the Syracuse Hospital at the age of 99.

He was a baptized and confirmed member of St. John's Church – McWilliams. Attended and graduated from District 82 country school. A World War II veteran, served with the U.S. Army in the 420 Field Artillery Battalion of the 10th Armored Division from 1942-44. In March, 2019, Raymond received his 75 year pin from the American Legion Post #100 for continuous membership. Served on the District 90 school board.

He married Clara Burkhart on April 30, 1946 at Nebraska City. They had one son, Donn Raymond. They lived on a farm southeast of Syracuse, moving into Syracuse in 1977. Later became members of St. John's UCC Church, Syracuse. Raymond was a farmer all his life and loved it. Enjoyed playing cards, jigsaw puzzles and golf. He especially loved spending time with his two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Clara passed away on March 21, 2015.

Survivors include his son, Donn & wife Irene of rural Syracuse; granddaughter Sara & Justin Luther of Lincoln and their sons, Camden Robert and Henry Raymond; grandson Aaron & Chantelle Schroeder of rural Avoca and their children, Jackson Raymond, Presley Jo and Carter Thomas, along with many nephews and nieces.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 15 at 11:30 A.M. at St. John's United Church of Christ in Syracuse, NE. Burial will follow at the Park Hill cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 14 from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. at the funeral home in Syracuse. The family will greet friends at the church before the service.

Memorials are suggested to the American Legion Post #100.
