Obituary

Reginald E. Colbert was born on April 14, 1929 in Rural Weeping Water, Nebraska to Lawrence E. Colbert and Constance Fern (Philpot) (Colbert) Butler. He passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 30, 2016 surrounded by his family at his home near Weeping Water, Nebraska.

Reg spent his early years growing up in the Weeping Water area and attended country school in Elmwood. He then attended middle school in Hastings, Nebraska and Manitou Springs, Colorado. He attended High School at the Colorado Military Academy in Denver, CO where he graduated in 1948.

After graduation, he returned to Nebraska and worked as a farm hand for a couple years before enlisting in the United States Army in 1950. He faithfully served his country during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1953.

Upon returning to Nebraska, he met and was united in marriage to Regina A. Stander on May 15, 1954 in Manley, Nebraska. He returned to his family roots and began farming and operating a Dairy Operation on the family farm outside of Weeping Water, where they raised their four children, Larry, Jean, Kevin and Don.

Reg was a devoted family man and loved the opportunity to spend time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Regina Colbert of Weeping Water, NE, children: Larry (Nadene) Colbert of Bellevue, NE, Jean Wymore of Syracuse, NE, Kevin (Betty) Colbert of Weeping Water, NE, Don (Susie) Colbert of Weeping Water, NE, grandchildren, Nicky Colbert, Michael Colbert, Christine (TSgt Anthony) Clouse, Samantha Colbert, Justin Colbert, Brianna Wymore, Matthew Wymore, great grandchildren, Bentley & Jace Wymore and Brendan Colbert. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Nancy Hakenkamp and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Coleen Bakarich, brother-in-law, Nick Bakarich, sister-in-law, Marilyn Stander and brother-in-law, Richard (Dick) Hakenkamp.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Manley, Nebraska with Fr. Tom Wiedel officiating.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 1, 2016 from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home and Tuesday, August 2, 2016 from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM also at the funeral home.

A Rosary service will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 7:00 P.M. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Manley, NE.

Interment will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Rural Manley, NE.

Memorials may be directed to The Lofte Community Theatre in Manley or Family's Choice.
