Reuben Luetchens, 81 of Murdock, passed away on June 3, 2018 at the Louisville Care Center. He was born on August 31, 1936 to Herold & Ruth (Schroeder) Luetchens in Wabash, NE.

Reuben married Ellen Stolz on August 27, 1961 in Douglas, NE. He served in the Navy and was stationed in Key West, FL during the Cuban Missile Crisis as an aviation mechanic. Reuben took an agriculture short course at UNL and then worked as a lifelong farmer. He was a life time member of Emmanuel EUB and then Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Reuben was a President of Cass Co. Farm Bureau, member of Dutch Academy School Board, Cass Co. Fair Board and Manley, Murdock and Elmwood Farmer Union Oil Co-op boards.

He is survived by his Wife: Ellen; Daughter: Jane Luetchens & husband Earle Hager; Son: Mark (Nancy) Luetchens; Grandchildren: Alex Hager, Sarah Hager, Luke (Denae) Luetchens, Jon (Katie) Luetchens, Brandon Luetchens; Great Grandchildren: Caroline & Henry Luetchens; Sister: Mabel Koch; Brother: Rev. Mel Luetchens; Brother-in-law: Gail Stolz; also many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Murdock, NE. Burial will be at Emmanuel Cemetery in rural Murdock.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 7 from 1 P.M. until 9 P.M. with family greeting friends from 5 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home in Elmwood.

Memorials are suggested to Ebenezer United Methodist Church or Emmanuel Cemetery.
