Dick was born August 13, 1941 in Edgar, NE; the eighth child of Leonard and Maude (Young) Bailey. He was united in marriage to Carol "Kay" Hoffman on May 29, 1959 in Mankato, KS. The couple was later blessed with three children; Rick, Kim, and Aaron.
Dick was involved in many activities throughout his life; a member of the Mason's Lodge #77 in Nelson, NE, he owned race horses, enjoyed pheasant hunting, was an avid gun collector, he also like dancing and partying with his friends. When he was younger he worked on combine crews and then joined the navy. Later in life, he really enjoyed camping and boating with his family.
Dick was a very good businessman, ranging from 26 years of managing grain elevators, to owning three of his own businesses; Sharon Motel in Lincoln, The Vineyard in Plattsmouth, and finally: Bailey Transportation. What ever job he chose to pursue, he gave it his all, until it was time for a change. Pretty remarkable for a man who only finished his sophomore year if high school.
