Richard W. Bruns, 79 of Syracuse, passed away on December 27, 2025, at Bryan East Hospital in Lincoln. He was born on July 22, 1946, to William & Rosiland (Jager) Bruns in Nebraska City.

Richard married Luanna Bassinger on November 20, 1970, in Fairbury. He was self-employed, owning and operating Bruns Drywall & Painter. Richard enjoyed tinkering on his vehicles and woodworking, often creating small handmade items that he enjoyed sharing with others. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and deeply valued time spent with his family.

Richard is survived by his children, Melissa (Douglas) Clark of Douglas and Richard (Katy) Bruns Jr. of Syracuse; grandchildren, Samantha (Austin) Overman of Cape Coral, FL, Skylar Clark of Eagle, and Cheyanne Bruns of Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Luanna Overman of Cape Coral, FL and Theodore Beall of Lincoln; brother-in-law, Carl Bassinger of Hamburg, Iowa; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Luanna Bruns; his daughter, Dianna Bruns; his sister, Louise Eden; his brother, John Bruns; and other extended family members.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 3 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home in Syracuse.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
