Richard W. Bruns, 79 of Syracuse, passed away on December 27, 2025, at Bryan East Hospital in Lincoln. He was born on July 22, 1946, to William & Rosiland (Jager) Bruns in Nebraska City.

Richard married Luanna Bassinger on November 20, 1970, in Fairbury. He was self-employed, owning and operating Richard Bruns Drywall Finisher. Richard enjoyed tinkering on his vehicles and woodworking, often creating small handmade items that he enjoyed sharing with others. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and deeply valued time spent with his family.

Richard is survived by his children, Melissa (Douglas) Clark of Douglas and Richard (Katy) Bruns Jr. of Syracuse; grandchildren, Samantha (Austin) Overman of Cape Coral, FL, Skylar Clark of Eagle, and Cheyanne Bruns of Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Luanna Overman of Cape Coral, FL and Theodore Beall of Lincoln; brother-in-law, Carl Bassinger of Hamburg, Iowa; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Luanna Bruns; his daughter, Dianna Bruns; his sister, Louise Eden; his brother, John Bruns; and other extended family members.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 3 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home in Syracuse.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
