Richard Eugene Lechner was born on July 23, 1960, in Nebraska City, Nebraska, to Eugene and Joan Lechner. He passed away on June 10, 2018, at Bryan Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska.  Richard graduated from Syracuse High School in 1978. He and Kathy Beach were married in Syracuse, Nebraska in 1982.  Richard attended Wichita Heating and Cooling Technical Institute in Wichita, Kansas, and graduated as Valedictorian in 1983.  Richard and Kathy were the owners of Unadilla Hardware and Appliance Repair in Unadilla, Nebraska for 34 years.

He is survived by his wife Kathy (Beach) Lechner of Unadilla, Nebraska, and children Maggie and Monty Wurtele, Omaha; Patrick and Becca Lechner, Syracuse, and Jordan Lechner, Omaha, and grandchildren Miles Wurtele and Walker Lechner.   He is also survived by his father Eugene Lechner, and sisters Lynn Trimble, River Oaks, Texas; Karen Lechner and Angie Fielder, Papillion; Ron and Sheri Lechner, Lincoln; Mark Lechner and Duane Hoover, Kansas City, Missouri; Doug and Julie Lechner, Grand Island; Jeff Lechner and Barb Kastens, Lincoln.  Richard is survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Lechner, and mother-in-law, Liz Beach.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 12, from 9:00am-4:00pm, at the funeral home, then at church with family greeting friends from 5:00-7:00pm with rosary at 7:00pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, June 13, at 10:30am at St. Paulinus Catholic Church in Syracuse.

Memorials are suggested to the Unadilla Community Fund or Unadilla Rescue Squad.
