Richard L. Powers, 76 of Palmyra, passed away on May 28, 2016 in Lincoln, NE. He was born on August 11, 1939 to Cecil & Harriette (Naviaux) Powers in Lincoln.

Richard married Mary Cameron on November 25, 1960 at the Palmyra Presbyterian Church and to this union they had Michael, Jill and Lani. Richard was a farmer and also raised cattle. He also was a substitute rural mail carrier for over 20 years. He was very active in church holding numerous offices, singing in choir and raising money for CROP. He had a lifelong love for basketball and baseball and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. He was active in the community by being a Boy Scout Leader and coaching girls softball. He also enjoyed playing cards & croquet.

He is survived by his Wife: Mary Powers of Palmyra; Son: Michael Powers (Cheryl Gerstenschlager) of Palmyra; Daughters: Jill (Kurt) Jones of Palmyra, Lani (Kevin) Nelson of Omaha; Grandchildren: Abigail (Abram) Lueders of Atlanta, GA, Tristan Powers of Lincoln, Dillon Jones of New York City, Brittany Jones of Lincoln, Josh Jones of Palmyra, Logan Nelson of Omaha, Kaden Nelson of Omaha; Sister: Gera (John) Stilwell of Unadilla; Sisters-in-law: LaDona Ann Powers of Lincoln, Patricia Cameron of Omaha; also many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Brother: Ron Powers and Brother-in-law: Gale Cameron.

Funeral services will be held on June 2 at 11:00 A.M. at the Palmyra Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Hopewell cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Palmyra Presbyterian Church.
