Richard “Rich” L. Roesener, 83 of Cook, passed away on Sunday, December 7th at the Johnson County Hospital. He was born on September 2nd, 1942, to Raymond Carl & Frieda (Spanjer) Roesener in Tecumseh. Rich graduated from Cook High School in 1960 before attending the Omaha Technical Institute where he would receive his mechanic certificate.
On August 22nd, 1965, he married Joyce Kettelhut at the Grace Lutheran Church in Cook. Rich worked as a mechanic at Roesener Oil in Cook and later enjoyed his years driving a semi. He proudly served in the Army Reserves and dedicated much of his life to community service, including the Cook Rural Fire Board, 25 years with the Cook Fire Department, Grace Lutheran Church Council, Choir, and Cemetery Board, American Legion Post #360, and the Johnson County Hospital Board, where he served for 24 years. He especially loved Christmas and was known for his elaborate Christmas light displays. Rich also took great pleasure in his collection of antique John Deere tractors.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Roesener; daughter Roxane (Chris) Schiebur; grandchildren Joslyn & Macy Schiebur, Tyllar Roesener; brother Rodney (Diane) Roesener; brothers-in-law Dave (Sharon) Kettelhut, Steve (Shirley) Kettelhut; also numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Russell Roesener; sister-in-law Bonnie Gould; and parents-in-law Walter & Dorothy Kettelhut.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, December 11th at 2:00 p.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church in Cook. The service will be livestreamed on the Grace Lutheran Facebook page.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 10th from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home in Syracuse.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
