Obituary

Richard Lee Wellman was born on March 11, 1950 to Duane and Edith (Prigg) Wellman in Nebraska City, Nebraska. He passed away at his home in Cook, Nebraska at the age of 62.

Richard graduated from Cook High School in 1968. He entered into the Army in July 1969 and completed basic training at Fort Lewis, Washington. He served his country in Vietnam. He received the Combat Infantryman Badge. The Combat badge is awarded to a member of an infantry unit who satisfactorily performed in active ground combat against a hostile force for a period of time. After service to his country, Rich was a Custom Harvester and Welder.

Rich is survived by his parents Duane and Edith Wellman, of Syracuse, daughters Traci and Mitchell Grumment, and their children Eric and Bronx, of Gretna and Jodi Wellman, and her children Brionna and Conner, of Jackson, TN, and son Ricky Wellman, and his children Angelica and Colton, of Bellevue, NE

He was preceded in death by his Brother, Jimmie Dale.


Funeral Services for Mr. Richard Wellman will be Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 10:30 AM at the St. John's United Church of Christ in Syracuse, Nebraska. Military Rites by Mid-Otoe County VFW #5547 and American Legion #195.Burial will be at Park Hill Cemetery. No visitation.
