Robert A. Long, 73 of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 19, 2021. He was born to Leo & Frances (Ormrod) Long on December 10, 1948, in Elmhurst, IL. His family moved to Stone Lake, WI in 1959 where he attended Elementary School, Hayward High School and Stout State University before joining the Marine Corps in 1969. He served honorable in the Marine Corps in Avionics until his retirement in 1989.

On June 18, 1983, Bob married Janet in Yuma, AZ, where he owned D&L Electronics TV and VCR repair. In 2003, Bob and Janet moved to Nebraska. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and was always very successful. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and served on the church council for 6 years.

He is survived by his wife Janet of 38 years; mother Frances Long; sisters Judy (Ed) Gregory of Stone Lake, WI, Sue (Gary) Bartz of Hayward, WI; brother Steve (Lisa) Long of Rice Lake, WI; children Kim Stone (Jesse), Stacey Wayne Miles (Sabrina), Scott (Tonya) Miles; grandchildren Abbie, Tanner, Lindsey, Alex, Quentin, Savannah and Nathan; great grandchildren Jaiden, Hailey, Bryanna, Noah, Riley, Makinleigh, Wyatt, Ali, Gracelyn, Axel and Luke; sisters-in-law: Marilyn, Phyllis, Dianne & Bea (Terry); also many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents and parents-in-law Alvin & Viola Hillman.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, January 3 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Otoe and in Stone Lake in the summer of 2022.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. John's Lutheran Church or Syracuse Rescue Squad.
