Obituary
Robert T. Burns He was born March 20, 1951, in Omaha to Tom and Glendora (Smalley) Burns. He passed away on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, in rural Plattsmouth at the age of 57 years, 10 months and 11 days.
After graduating from high school, Robert joined the United States Army serving stateside at the end of the Vietnam War. After his discharge from the military, he worked as a long-haul trucker.
On June 21, 1986, he married Ona Knepper in Plattsmouth.
Survivors include his wife, Ona Burns of Plattsmouth; children, Jason Burns of Plattsmouth; Caroline Burns of Rockville, Md.; four stepchildren, David Mayer and wife Susan of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Kevin Mayer and wife Lisa of Omaha; Mark Mayer of Bettendorf, Iowa; Faith Ann Mayer of Omaha; five grandchildren; sisters, Kathleen Spidel and husband Michael of Lincoln; Laurel Newlon and husband Tony of Lincoln; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Clay Burns.
Funeral service: 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at Fusselman-Wymore Funeral Home, Plattsmouth, with the Rev. Mike Wolfe officiating.
Visitation: 1-9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m.
Final resting place: Oak Hill Cemetery, Plattsmouth
