Obituary

Robert Dwane Jaspring was born to Ralph and Opal (Thiele) Jaspring on July 5th, 1940. He passed away on February 10, 2014. His funeral will be held at Luther Memorial Church, Syracuse, NE on Saturday February 15 at 10:30 A.M.

Robert lived south of Syracuse all his young years, attending country school District #26 and then Syracuse Elementary and High School. After graduation, he worked for the Schmidt Bakery here in Syracuse and continued there after Ed and Gladys Gobber bought it. He also developed pictures for Nebraska City News Press for a number of years and for the USDA office in Lincoln. Robert also attended Southeast Community College where he took welding classes and began teaching welding. Robert also owned and operated Bob's Shoe Repair here in Syracuse for many years.

He and his brother, Norman enjoyed archery when they were younger and belonged to an archery club in Nebraska City. Many weekends were spent down there shooting arrows and participating in contests. He also enjoyed hunting coyotes with his Dad, brother and friends. He was so excited when he and his brother built a Model T hot rod.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Opal, his Grandparents, Fred and Leona Jaspring and Gus and Lena Thiele, Uncles, Clarence and Delmar Jaspring, all of Syracuse and Uncle Eldon Jaspring of Denver, Colorado. He is survived by his brother Norman Jaspring and wife Pat of Syracuse and sister Janice Potthoff and husband Hank of Carroll, Iowa, 5 nieces and nephews and 10 grand nieces and nephews and an aunt, Mary Jaspring of Sidney, NE.

Pallbearers will be: Mike Jaspring, Daniel Jaspring, Darin Ziemann, Scott Lorenzen, Tony Potthoff and Mike Curtis. Honorary Pallbearers are: Michele Ziemann, Marci Lorenze, Becky Jaspring and Tina Curtis.

Memorials can be given to the American Cancer Society or The Disabled Veterans.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 14 from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. with family greeting friends from 7-8 P.M. at the funeral home in Syracuse.
