Robert "Bob" Lee Dobbs, age 70, of Louisville, Nebraska passed away January 31, 2023, at his home. Bob was born April 16, 1952, in Nebraska City to Howard and Ellen (Nichol) Dobbs.
Bob graduated from Louisville High School in 1970. Throughout his younger years, he was an all-around athlete, thoroughly enjoying sports. He did, however, have a soft spot for baseball. He would go on to play many years, including slow pitch. In addition to playing, Bob coached the Louisville Senior Legion team and umpired many baseball games. After high school graduation, he went to Fairbury Junior college, where he lived at the firehouse and was a Junior Volunteer Fireman. He would also attend the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where he received a teaching degree.
In addition to baseball, Bob enjoyed trap shooting, reading, he was an avid Mizzou Tigers Football fan, enjoyed watching Creighton basketball, St. Louis Cardinal baseball, and testing his knowledge while watching episodes of Jeopardy. After college, Bob taught at Elsmere School for one year. After he left teaching, he worked many jobs doing construction with Cedar Construction Company, as a supervisor at Continental Printing Company, worked at Avaya, and worked the produce section of Walmart in Gretna. He was active in the community as a member of the Louisville Rod & Gun Club and was a Louisville Library Board Member for several years.
Bob is survived by his sisters, Judy (Don) McKinney of Louisville and Deb O'Driscoll of Kansas City, KS, his nephews and nieces, Brad (Julie) Sawyer, James Sawyer, Jr., Rhonda (Richard) Bunz, Jennifer McConnell, Monica (Troy) Lanning, Vicki Richards, Timothy O'Driscoll, and Shanna (Mario) DePriest. He is also survived by his great nieces, nephews, and many lifelong friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Howard and Ellen Dobbs, brothers Jim and Randy Dobbs, and his sister Patsy Sawyer.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 6, 2023, at 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church, Louisville, Nebraska. Burial will follow at the Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 5, 2023 from 2 – 7 pm at the Louisville Senior Center, with family greeting friends from 4 – 6 pm.
Memorials are suggested to the Louisville Rod & Gun Club or the Louisville Library.
