Roberta J. Bornemeier, 94 of Elmwood, passed away on April 18, 2022, at the High Plains Alzheimers's Special Care Center in Lincoln. She was born on January 1, 1928, to Robert & Hazel (Miller) Kunz in Imperial, NE. On August 21, 1951, she married Vernon H. Bornemeier in Elmwood.
Roberta went to several country schools then attended Alvo School from third grade until she was a freshman and then graduated from Elmwood High School in 1945. She worked at the grocery store and later cleaned houses until her retirement. She was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church, Modern Mothers Club, Eastern Star and was active in United Methodist Women.
What was most important to Roberta were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed watching them grow up and especially enjoyed attending their activities. She also cherished spending time with her friends, watching birds and taking care of her flowers and her yard. Roberta was always ready for a bus or car trip. She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, eating out, going to the casino and was always ready for an adventure.
She is survived by her children Gary (Shirley) Bornemeier, Judy (Rick) Hodtwalker; grandchildren Bryce (Laura) Bornemeier, Brad (Julie) Bornemeier, Derek Hodtwalker, Darci (Tom) Martinosky, Travis Hodtwalker; great grandchildren Hannah & Grant Bornemeier, Dylan, Jase & Wyatt Bornemeier, Aisley, Isaac & Otto Martinosky four nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Vernon, sister & brother-in-law Margaret & Orland Bennett; brother-in-law & sister-in-law Jerry & Lois Bornemeier.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 22 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Elmwood. The service will be livestreamed on the St. Paul United Methodist Church - Elmwood Facebook page. Burial will follow at the Elmwood cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 21 from 1-8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home in Elmwood.
Memorials are suggested to St. Paul UMC or Elmwood Community Center.
