IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roberta B.
Sugden
August 6, 1919 – February 16, 2017
Roberta Beth Pittman Sugden was born on August 6, 1919, in Adams, Nebraska to Ulysses and Lucy Pittman. She passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017. She graduated from Adams High School, studied nursing and married Virgil Sugden on May 1, 1942. Their immediate family: daughter Billie Kay Lefholtz (Rod Aden); daughter-in-law Pam Sugden; grandchildren Curt Lefholtz, Walter (Joe) Sugden and Melanie Aden. Roberta's husband Virgil and their son Kent Sugden preceded Roberta in death.
Roberta was a farmer with her own tractor, a school bus driver determined to keep "her children" safe, and an active member of the United Methodist Church locally as well as at the conference, district and national levels. She loved to cook and organized biannual family reunions for over 20 years. Roberta and Virgil loved to play cards. Roberta's hobbies included reading and photography – John Grisham was one of her favorite authors and she had over 200 slides of the gorgeous sunsets frequently seen from their farmstead. Roberta was intrigued with her computer and a proponent of email as a way of staying in touch with loved ones. She was passionate about her love for her family and friends, was always a "force to be reckoned with".
Roberta made friends wherever she lived and enjoyed living at Gold Crest Retirement Center the last two and a half years of her life.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, February 20 at 10:30 A.M. at the Douglas United Methodist Church in Douglas, NE. No visitation.
