Roger G. Heinke, 83 of Talmage, passed away on December 31, 2022, at his home. He was born on June 3, 1939, to Gilbert & Louise (Niedermeyer) at their home in Talmage. He attended Oak Hill Dist. 71 and later attended Milford College.

On November 20, 1988, he married Marge Mikalsen in Las Vegas, NV. Together they drove for Freymiller trucking and traveled across the U.S. until he retired at 73. They took 14 cruises and was able to travel around the world. He enjoyed volunteering for Hands Helping Hands in Talmage. Roger was an avid reader and had the complete collection of Louis L'amour books. He also enjoyed any western movie with John Wayne.

He is survived by his wife Marge Heinke; children Ron (Peggy) Heinke, Kathy Dunbar, Tammy (Chad) Klein; step-children Tammy Fisher, Penny Barwick, Karen (Steve) Cook, Daniel (Marie) Desroches; 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; special friends Katherine Dehring, Mary Koch; pet Princess Kali Rose; also many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Hazel, sister Connie Hynek and daughter Debra Zichek.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 6 at 1:00 p.m. at Zion United Church of Christ in Talmage. The service will be livestreamed on the Fusselman Facebook page. Burial will follow at St. Paul's UCC Cemetery (Osage) in rural Cook.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5 from 1-8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home in Syracuse.

Memorials are suggested to the Talmage Fire & Rescue or St. Croix Hospice.
