Ronald Lee Johnson was born at home on February 21, 1933 to Virgil and Winnie Johnson in a farm house that sets today across the road where Dallas Royal now lives. He passed away on April 17, 2016 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Syracuse. Ronald attended Eden Hill Grade School District No. 25 for eight years and graduated from Syracuse High School in 1950.

Following graduation from Syracuse High School, Ronald continued farming with his father until he was drafted into the United States Army in 1953. Then onto Camp Chaffie, Ark. for ten days before going to Ft. Sill Oklahoma for Basic Training. (Infantry and artillery training) Next place was sent to Ft. Lewis Washington for 9 months and from there to Germany. The Korean War ended just before he was released from the Army in March of 1955.

Ronald returned home and was engaged in farming and farmed for the rest of his life.

On August 8, 1970 Ronald married Lois Reddish Emerson and together they raised her children: Gaylin, Gale Marie and Ronald Emerson.

Ron served on the Burr elevator board in the "70"s and received a vacation in Mexico and later a vacation to Jamaica. Lois went with him both time and they had a wonderful time together.

Ronald was a lifelong member of American Legion Post #100 of Syracuse, NE and served as Vice Commander and Commander. He also served on the Honor Guard and helped with many funerals. He will be missed.

Ronald is survived by his wife Lois of Unadilla, NE; Son: Gaylin (Annette) Emerson of Unadilla, NE; Son: Ronald (Christine) Emerson of Hickman, NE; Daughter: Gale (Robert) Heisler of Sugarland, TX. Grandchildren: Thomas (Valerie) Emerson of Lincoln, Nicholas (Ashley) of Syracuse, Carla Emerson and Allen Emerson of Lincoln, Tyler and Alexie Emerson of Hickman and Amanda Emerson of Lincoln, Brittany and Eric Heisler of Austin, TX, Robert Paul Heisler of Houston, TX, Kristen, Stephen, Shauna Marie and Julianne Heisler of Sugarland, TX. Great Grandchildren: Abigail Heisler of Austin, TX, Alex, Raegan and Nathan Emerson of Lincoln, Wyatt Emerson of Syracuse. Special Friend: Tippy Johnson (Ron's Dog), Cousin: Norman Cloyd.

Preceded in death by his parents Virgil & Winnie Johnson, Sister-in-law and Brother-in-law: Margaret & Eugene Eggert.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday April 22, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John's United Church of Christ located at 511 7th St. Syracuse, NE. Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery in rural Unadilla.

Visitation will be held on Thursday April 21 from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home in Syracuse.

Memorials are suggested to Hopewell Cemetery Assoc.
