Obituary
Ronald W. Zeiger was born on November 13, 1947 in Knoxville, Iowa to Clarence and Frances (Cary) Zeiger. He passed away on December 1, 2011 at the age of 64 years, 17 days.
Ronald graduated from Alden High School in Alden, Iowa and attended Northwest Missouri State University where he earned a Bachelor Degree. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy Seabee's. During his military career he serve two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was united in marriage on June 2, 1973 to Janet Filloon in St. Paulinus Catholic Church in Syracuse, Nebraska. Together they raised two children, Ryan and Rachel.
He made a career in the construction industry, where he specialized in dirt excavation. In 1985, he started Zeiger Construction which he owned and operated for many years.
Ronald was a member of St. Paulinus Catholic Church, Knight of Columbus, Mid-Otoe County V.F.W. #5547, Massie Richards Post #100 American Legion, former member of the Syracuse City Council, Board Member of the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality Board and Past King of the Unadilla Groundhog Day Festivities.
He is survived by his Wife Janet Zeiger of Syracuse, NE, Daughter: Rachel Zeiger of Grand Island, NE; Grandson: Liam Hinrikus of Grand Island, NE; Father: Clarence "Wayne" Zeiger of Syracuse, NE, Brothers: Clif Zeiger and wife Aileen of Wheaton, IL, Frederic Zeiger and wife LeeAnn of Syracuse, NE, Sister: Angela Ripa and husband Dale of Lincoln, NE; Sisters-in-law: Jacquline Eagan and husband Roy of Cameron, MO; Sherry Filloon of St. Joseph, MO; Aunts: Eulalia Cunningham of Iowa Falls, IA; Meta Mahoney of Cedar Rapids, NE; Uncle: Jerry Cary of Greeley, NE. Also survived by numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his Mother: Frances Zeiger and Son: Ryan Zeiger
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paulinus Catholic Church in Syracuse, Nebraska with Father Michael Stec officiating.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 8th from 1:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. with family greeting friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Friday, December 9th from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home, resuming at 6:00 P.M. at St. Paulinus Catholic Church followed by a Parish Rosary at 7:00 P.M. at the Church.
Interment will be in Park Hill Cemetery in Syracuse, Nebraska.
Memorials may be directed to the St. Paulinus Parish Hall Fund.
